We hear the same questions from parents in Singapore, in roughly the same order. Some of them are practical. Some of them are sceptical. All of them are fair.
Here are the five most common ones — answered as honestly as we can.
No. And this is actually the question we're most glad parents ask, because it tells us they've been burned before — by a programme that assumed prior knowledge and left their child behind on day one.
Vibe coding — the approach we use at Dreambuilders.sg — doesn't require syntax knowledge. Your child doesn't need to know what a variable is, or how a loop works, or what Python is. They need to be able to describe what they want to build in plain language, observe the result, and iterate.
Those aren't coding skills. They're thinking skills. And most 10-year-olds have them in abundance.
We've had children with zero prior tech exposure build deployed, working applications by Day 2. We've also had children who've done years of Scratch or Makecode who need to unlearn the habit of waiting to be told what to do next. Prior experience is neither required nor an automatic advantage.
The honest answer: it depends on what they're doing now.
Most coding enrichment in Singapore falls into one of two buckets. The first is visual block coding — Scratch, Makecode Arcade, similar. Great for introducing computational thinking. The output is usually a simple game or animation. The child follows a structured project. It's engaging, but it's also supervised creativity with guardrails.
The second is syntax-based coding — Python, JavaScript. Useful if your child is heading toward competitive programming or a CS degree. Most 9–12 year olds find it abstract and discouraging before they've built anything meaningful.
What we do is neither. We use AI-assisted tools that let children build real, deployed web products — the kind with a URL you can send anyone — by describing what they want in plain English. The skill we're building isn't "can you write Python?" It's "can you turn an idea into a thing that exists in the world?" That's a different skill, and one the other two buckets don't address.
This is the right question to ask, and most enrichment providers will dodge it.
Our honest answer: three days is not enough time to make your child a developer. It is enough time to give them an experience they don't forget.

That experience — of going from nothing to a real, deployed product — changes how a child sees themselves in relation to technology. They shift from consumer to creator. That shift doesn't require months of classes. It requires one real build, done well, with the right support.
Everything after that is a child who already knows they can do it.
Yes, with the right environment.
The concern most parents have is a reasonable one: they've seen what open-ended AI tools can produce, and they're not sure they want their child having unmonitored access. We share that view.
At Dreambuilders.sg, we use purpose-built platforms with a specific output — a website or app — rather than open-ended chat interfaces. Children aren't browsing the internet or generating unconstrained text. They're using AI as a tool to build something defined, in a room with coaches at a 1:6 ratio who are watching every screen.
The other thing worth saying: a child who learns to use AI as a building tool — intentionally, with a goal, under guidance — is developing a much healthier relationship with AI than a child who uses it passively to generate homework answers. One builds agency. The other erodes it.
We're not going to tell you enrichment always trumps exam prep. That would be disingenuous, especially in Singapore where PSLE results have real consequences.
What we will say is this: the September school holiday falls just before PSLE — which makes it one of the last chances for P6 students to step away from the standard curriculum and express themselves in a completely different way. Building something of their own, something they chose, is a reset that revision papers simply can't provide. And for P4–P5 students, it falls right in the middle of a critical developmental window. Three mornings is nine hours. That's a small fraction of nine days, and it produces something — a real product — that no amount of tuition produces.
More than that: the skills your child develops at Dreambuilders.sg aren't in competition with academic performance. The ability to break a problem down, describe it clearly, iterate on a solution, and present the result — these are exactly the skills that make children better at everything else, including exams.
But you know your child's load better than we do. If September is genuinely not the right time, our next cohort will run in the following school holiday window. We'd rather you come when it's right than rush in when it's not.
